first Monday of each month in the Community Room at Eastridge Mall, on the first floor near Dillards,
at 6:30pm. All visitors welcome. The repeater, along with a 444.55MHz machine, is located on the
Spencer Mountain site in central Gaston County, NC. The antenna is at 1,300 ASL. Visit the GCARS Website
W4BFB, 145.23- --- Operated by the Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society.
W4BFB meets on the last Tuesday of each Monday in Charlotte. The antenna
is at 1574 feet above sea level, which is almost 900 feet above average terrain.
The Johnson CR1100 puts out about 100 watts ERP into a four bay commercial
dipole, and is controlled by a Link Communications RLC-Club controller. The
features, messages, and control functions can be programed from a computer at
home, linked via modem to the controller on the mountain. It also includes a
Digital Voice Recorder for "real human" voice messages. 5.23 covers North to
